  • The first recorded newspaper advertisement appeared in 1652 in England. It was printed in a newspaper called "Mercurius Politicus" and advertised the sale of a house.

  • During the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969, a thirteen-second delay was implemented in the television broadcast between the astronauts and Mission Control. This delay allowed Mission Control to interrupt the broadcast in case of emergencies.

  • The first radio broadcast of music occurred on Christmas Eve in 1906 when Reginald Fessenden, a Canadian inventor, played the violin and sang Christmas carols over the airwaves.

  • In the late 19th century, newspapers like Joseph Pulitzer's New York World and William Randolph Hearst's New York Journal pioneered sensationalized reporting known as "yellow journalism." This style of reporting emphasized lurid stories, exaggeration, and sensational headlines to attract readers.

  • Auguste and Louis Lumière are often credited with the birth of modern cinema. They patented the Cinématographe in 1895, a motion picture camera and projector that allowed multiple people to watch films simultaneously. Their first public screening took place on December 28, 1895, in Paris.
  • In 1835, the New York Sun published a series of articles claiming that astronomer Sir John Herschel had discovered life on the moon through a powerful telescope. The articles were entirely fabricated but captivated readers and became one of the most famous hoaxes in journalism history.
