About

When I went to college in 2014, I had no idea what I wanted to major in or grow up to be. My main focus at the time was being a collegiate athlete. I switched majors 3 times before landing in Event Management and graduating with that degree. After graduation, I went into Event Planning at a wedding venue. While I didn't love being at weddings every weekend, I did love the industry as a whole. While at this wedding venue job, I decided to start making signs for the couples who were getting married at the venue. That Fall, I found myself at a wedding show advertising wedding signs. I started my business in March 2019 with just wedding signs, but quickly transitioned to wedding invitation design.

I taught myself everything I needed to know about graphic design and wedding invitation etiquette before really accepting clients in January 2020. In June 2020, I quit my full-time job and took my business full-time. My business has grown from the ground up, and now I'm focusing on scaling and taking it to the next level.

In my free time, I love walking my dogs, cooking, and working out. I'm very career-driven and put a lot of pressure on myself, but I think that's what sets me apart and makes my business so successful.

Career

I am the owner of Julia Kay Design which is a wedding invitation business. I am the only employee of my business which means I quite literally do just about everything for my business. The only areas I have outsourced are bookkeeping, accounting, and Pinterest. Everything else is done by me! Experiencing and learning all different facets of running a business is essential if I want to scale my business.In my 6 years of being an entrepreneur, my work has been featured in several publications, I have been interviewed on many different podcasts, I even started my own podcast, Julia's Creative Business Guidebook! I've grown my social media following to 83,000, have over 2,000 email subscribers, and even started a social media management agency for other small businesses looking to outsource social media. I've also launched several mini-courses and educational resources for others who are trying to grow their wedding invitation business.
