About

Hi, I’m Lien — a ceramic artist, educator, and creative business owner based in Perth, Australia. I run Lien Nguyen Ceramics, where I create sculptural and functional work inspired by Vietnamese heritage, storytelling, and tradition. I also teach one-on-one workshops and courses, sell my work online, and share resources and guidance for aspiring ceramicists.

If you’re curious about a career in ceramics — whether it’s becoming a full-time artist, running your own studio, or teaching your own workshops — this session is for you. I’ll walk you through what my day-to-day looks like, how I went from 8 years in the corporate world to turning a creative passion into a business.

Whether you’re just starting out or pivoting your career, I’m here to answer your questions and share what’s possible when you follow your creative curiosity.

Career

I’m a ceramic artist and educator based in Perth, and I run a full-time ceramics business from my home studio. My work ranges from sculptural and functional pieces to custom commissions.

I teach one-on-one pottery workshops and a 6-week courses. Over the years, I’ve built a loyal community of students who I loved seeing them start their own ceramics side businesses.

What I love most about this career is the blend of creativity and connection. I get to bring meaningful pieces into the world, help others express themselves through clay, and run a business that’s aligned with my values.

Many of my career responsibilities and insights are applicable worldwide, regardless of where you’re located.
