About

My primary interest growing up was the natural sciences. I knew from an early age that I wanted to study animal behavior. In college I majored in psycho-biology and did multiple semesters of black & white darkroom work. After college I worked in the sciences for 17 years until I had taken my photographic interests far enough. Now a full time artist for 21 years, I've been offering prints of my work at festivals, galleries, and on-line.

 


Career

Primarily I make my income selling prints of my work but I have also been a contributing writer for Professional Artist magazine doing feature articles on the business of being an artist. My work has been recognized with an IRMA (International Regional Magazine Association) award, twice in the Nature's Best international awards, been short listed multiple times in the Bird Photographer of the Year, and Close-up photographer of the Year competitions. I've served as a juror for multiple art festivals, photography club competitions, and a major photographic exhibition.

Being a full time artist has been the most rewarding experience of my life. Being able to wake up everyday looking forward to the days work is a wonderful feeling. I've met some of the finest people I've know, my closest friends, and my wife at the art festivals in which I've exhibited. Being my own boss is both freeing and anxiety ridden, but it is a life style that I wouldn't give up. I need to create, and being a full time artist is the best way for me to be able to do that.
