POETRY & SELF-PUBLISHING

I am a poet and spoken word artist from Toronto with a degree in Creative and Professional Writing from York University. I consider creative writing to be a healing modality and I have been writing poetry since childhood. I used to observe my grandfather writing in the kitchen for many years and his dedication to the craft always inspired me!

I write primarily about romance and love, spirituality, and personal evolution. I believe our untold stories foster community once shared, and our poetry can save the lives of those touched by trauma and grief by reminding us that beauty still exists here.

I have self-published three full-length poetry collections in under 2 years, and I frequently perform at open mic events in my city. I sell my books online through Amazon and social media, and in-person at poetry events and artist markets.

I am well-versed in self-publishing through Amazon KDP as I have published all my poetry books through this channel. I can provide you with the guidance on how to structure your book and how to create print-ready files.

I have significant expertise using Canva Pro to create cover files suitable for the KDP publishing process and to format visually-appealing poetry manuscripts using both text and images.

I use Canva Pro and Vistaprint to create unique merchandise related to my poetry books and my brand which I sell and showcase at artist markets.

SPOKEN WORD & PERFORMING ON STAGE

Sharing my poetry has given me a deep sense of fulfillment and belonging. Performing onstage has allowed me to form deep bonds within the poetry community and to meet the fellow creatives who have become my soul family.

I have been consistently performing poetry and spoken word on stage for over a year, and I have been a featured reader at several events in my city. I have also performed at open mic events in New York and Montreal.

I have gained the confidence to shed my (once persistent) stage fright and I can now command an audience with ease!

Career

My true calling in life is to help other women feel less alone in their experiences. Performing my poetry onstage has shaped me into the confident and outspoken woman I am today, and it has validated the little girl who once didn't have a voice. I want to inspire other women to shamelessly express themselves and to use the written word to alchemize their pain into something beautiful.

During my studies at York University, I was a co-winner in the President’s Creative Writing Award for my poem “doll food.” My poetry has been published in a recent chapbook by Clownhouse Arts Collective and in York University's Existere.

I have self-published three poetry collections: angels in heaven, crybaby, and most recently, petite girl precious heart.

Time slots: 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes

Virtual Career Tour: Through video chat, I will walk you through what I do for a living —covering job responsibilities, how to get started, the skills you’ll need, educational paths, insights from my own experience, etc. I'll answer as many of your questions as I can and share practical advice to help you take the next steps if this path aligns with your goals! 

Many of my career responsibilities and insights are applicable worldwide, regardless of where you’re located. While I can share general advice and insights, I am unable to provide region-specific legal, tax, or business setup guidance. However, I can guide you through industry best practices and offer practical steps that are not location-specific.
